Well. The best I can say about my NaNoWriMo attempt so far is… it's going.

My lack of skill is showing up in buckets and I am bored with the pace of the events I have written. But… I am maintaining a decent word count each day. The "worst" day so far, I wrote 88% of my intended word count for the day. So, what has happened so far has been good.

For the most part, I am trying to remember what I was excited about a week or two ago and try to keep nudging the plot it in those directions. And making sure to repeatedly come back to the file and write. Too many times, it feels like a superhuman effort to write 200 words that aren't worthy of, but then a short time later, I'll have an almost effortless push for 500 or more words. So, still learning what makes the writing work for me.

Keeping in mind the advice I saw: "You can't edit a blank page," I am trying to just push on, forgetting about whatever crap I may already have written and just write the best I can. After the month is over, editing can begin.

Like almost anything I'm not good at, I wish I was good at it, but…I'm just trying to push forward.

I have already reached today's word goal. That's thanks to a couple of things: 1) that I had this as a 50% availability day, and 2) I woke up just in time to observe 1:59am becoming 1:00am at the time change. I have competing ideas about how to treat the rest of the day. I'd like to write more words. I'd like to plan something that might make the writing easier. And I would like to relax. How many of those to do today and in what proportions are the questions at this point.

And a nap would not go astray either!
